These are a great stash buster so feel free to try different combinations of colours and textures to make these – Sandy had some tinsel wool that made a fab chain!

Knitted ‘Paper’ Chains
Information:
Yarn: Double Knitting weight in your choice of colours
Needle size: 4mm
Final size: approx. 2.5 cm x 22.9 cm (1in x 9in)
Pattern:
Cast on 40 sts using long-tail cast on.
Knit 5 or 7 rows (depending on type of yarn, knit whichever is closest to correct final size)
Cast off leaving a tail for sewing the strip into a loop.

Yarn: Double Knitting weight in your choice of colours
Hook size: 4.5mm
Final size: approx. 2.5 cm x 22.9 cm (1in x 9in)
Abbreviations
- Ch – Chain
- HTR – Half Treble Crochet (UK)/ Half Double Crochet (US)
- DC – Double Crochet (UK)/Single Crochet (US)
Notes:
- Ch1/Ch2 count as first stitch
- If you are using a textured yarn that’s a different weight, try adding or removing beginning chains and skipping or repeating row 2 until you get a strip of approximately the correct size
Pattern:
Beginning Chain: Ch36, turn
Row 1: HTR in 3rd Chain from hook, HTR in next 33 stitches, turn
Row 2: Ch1, DC in next 34 stitches, turn
Row 3: Ch2, HTR in next 34 Stitches, fasten off leaving a long tail.
