6 Books
6 Rooms
6 Puzzles
1 Hall of Fame

After 2 years, there are only 2 entries in the winner’s Hall of Fame!

Do you have what it takes?

How To Play

To complete these escape rooms you don’t need any special knowledge or abilities, though a pencil and paper may come in handy! Everything you need to solve the puzzle is within the room but the answers, or even what the questions are, won’t always be obvious! Have a good look around for objects, words or numbers and see if you can form a word, phrase or series of numbers. You can play solo or in a team – the technology supports voice and text chat!

Each room has two doors – one where you enter, which will tell you the room number and contains other information that may, or may not, be useful to solving the puzzle. The second door has a link that you’ll need to follow to move on. The link will look like this: bathneslibraries.wordpress.com/??????, once you think you have solved the puzzle and worked out the word or number, use it to replace the question marks.

For example, if you think the code is 123456, you should open a new tab and type bathneslibraries.wordpress.com/123456 into your browser.

The rooms get harder as they progress, but you can bookmark the blog pages in between so you can pick it up again at any time! You can also ask for hints via the blog or by emailing Library_Events@bathnes.gov.uk

If you manage to complete all six rooms, enter your name in the box to be added to our Hall of Fame and please leave us feedback so we know how to improve!

Due to the horror theme and the difficulty of the puzzles, we recommend the escape room is for adults only.

The Rooms

You can play the game using any device that has a browser, but the quality is best on a computer or via a VR headset and generally on newer devices. The rooms are quite big and data-heavy so we advise you only play via wi-fi and loading times may be slow. For maximum enjoyment play the game with the sound on, but heed the warning about Room 6 – it is very loud when it first loads.

These rooms are built using Mozilla Hubs, they are 3d and you can move around the space by using the arrows on a keyboard, using the mouse to look around or by pinching the screen on a tablet or phone. The first space is an introductory area to help you get used to moving around, there isn’t a puzzle in this room – you just have to follow the instructions!

If you are playing solo, we advise you switch your microphone off so as not to disturb others. If someone has forgotten to do this, you can mute or block them by ‘looking’ above their head at the options (see ‘more information’ below)
