Riders by Jilly Cooper

One of the novels highlighted during the BBC’s 100 Novels That Shaped Our World, I read this book during my summer holidays and it was a great, fun read. Jilly Cooper can write a rollicking good story and this book is set in the Cotswold and involves the world of show jumping. Riders is the first book starring Jilly Cooper’s intriguing and flawed hero Rupert Campbell-Black and follows his show jumping career and his rivalry with Jake Lovell. Their feud follows the competitions around Europe and leads finally to the Los Angeles Olympics.

Jilly Cooper researches her stories with great detail so you are immersed in the world of horses and show jumping. Be warned once started I can guarantee you will be unable to put this book down.
