Dick King-Smith and Simon Callow

30 years at the podium logo

Dick King-Smith was lovely to us. He came to meet children and talk about writing books and the characters he invented. He was such a nice man and always keen to promote libraries, especially children’s libraries…

Simon Callow came to Bath Central Library during the run of “Waiting for Godot” at the Theatre Royal Bath. He was very keen to see the autographed letters of Charles Dickens which we had (now housed in the Archives in the Guildhall).

He was so pleased to see them and happily posed afterwards, for a photo of him holding some spoken word books, he told us we could use the photo to promote our library services. He was an absolute delight.
