Witch Child, By Celia Rees

Set in 1659, Witch Child tells the story of Mary who travels to the New World after her grandmother is hanged for being a witch.

I really liked how this was told from Mary’s point of view as a puritan witch and how the settlers of the New World feared witchcraft or anything like it whereas the native people would encourage it. It is told in diary form where it is found in modern times with pages sewn into a quilt.

This is aimed at the Teenage/ Young Adult audience but anyone older could still enjoy this.
